BreakdownBoar bacon, great northern beans, herbs, and vegetables in a brandy reduction. Handmade, small-batch, freeze-dried meal. This meal is of the quality you'd expect of a decent restaurant, but you can enjoy it anywhere. Wild boar is a great source of lean protein and is low in cholesterol, unlike its domesticated cousin. It is also rich in Zinc, and Iron, and also is a good source of monosaturated fats and powerful Selenium, which fights inflammation. Beans contain high fiber and protein counts. Loaded with delectable herbs, celery, mushrooms, and onions.
While I’m not an overly picky eater when it comes to overnight adventures, I have to say that this one quickly became my favorite.
Here’s what to expect. A good ol’ home cooked bean soup, with chunks, that’s right I said CHUNKS, of Boar Bacon! Another huge plus is this Stowaway freeze dried meal is packed with actual flavor. I know it’s hard to believe because most mass produced foods, freeze dried or not, err on the bland side of taste. Not with Stowaway, definitely a, “Go big or go home,” flavor profile in that kitchen. The spice was right on the mark. Can’t wait to try their Bison Beer Chili.
Very high in fiber and filling for dinner. The flavor overall was good but didn’t quite hit 5 stars for me.
This stuff is great! Tried out in anticipation for upcoming prince of wales alpine deer hunt. Super tasty, rehydrates quickly and well, and boy is it filling! Only negative us the somewhat salty taste. I’ve already bought more
Simply the best backpacking meal I have ever had on trail. My personal favorite so far of any (Heather's Choice, Mountain House, Backpacker's Pantry, etc.) brand. I could seriously eat this meal every day on the trail.
