BreakdownStone Glacier redesigned the popular Sky Archer for 2020 to include an internal spotting scope pocket and a full-length side zipper that allows access to the main bag without having to remove your bow. The Sky Archer 6400 is one of the lightest expedition sized packs on the market making it perfect for backcountry hunters. It's also convertible to 4,000 cubic inches in bivy mode using a unique top compression strap system.
Just inside the panel side zip are ¾” tri-slide buckles to attach Swing Out pockets and/or Camp Pockets for added organization. The Sky Archer also has two side pockets; The left side pocket is designed specifically for a tripod or arrow tube and the other larger right side pocket is for additional storage.
With 6,400 cubic inches of volume and 2,500 plus cubic inches of load shelf expansion, this pack can deliver on everything from trips measured in weeks to those measured in hours.
I swapped out my solo 3300 for the sky archer and I’m very pleased! It can fit all the essentials for a multi day hunt and can compress down for the day hunts. I also like the side pockets that allow a tripod, or trekking poles to rest without risk of falling out. The long side zip is perfect for getting into the pack if need. I’d recommend getting some auto locking buckles if strapping your bow to the back. I wish they’d just include them with it since that’s what this pack is made for.
The Stone Glacier x-curve frame matched with the Sky Archer 6400 is a match made in hunting/hiking/scouting heaven! I like having a pack with a simple main compartment, without a bunch of pouches and compartments adding weight and taking away space. If needed you can add accessories. Add the fact that you can convert the pack to bivy mode, and the pack can do everything! From single day trips, to week long excursions. I own both Mystery Ranch and Stone Glacier packs, and Stone Glacier is my #1 choice for everything. The load shelf is more effective at carrying heavy loads, and the compression of SG packs is just outstanding. I'm currently selling my wife's Mystery Ranch pack on eBay to convert her over to SG. Why? Because SG is badass!
