BreakdownThe Slik Pro CF 634 Tripod weighs slightly more than 2 lbs. It extends to almost 63 inches and folds down to a compact 18.7 inches. This tripod handles up to 7 lbs easily and can be used with larger spotting scopes. The 4 leg sections secure and loosen with twist locks. Because the legs are non-rotating, you may unlock all of a leg’s stages at once by twisting the 3 large rubber grips with one hand for fast setup. The Slik Pro CF 634 Tripod is 40% lighter than aluminum and super tough due to the 8-layer Carbon Fiber design.
It’s a great lightweight tripod for the backpack hunter. I wouldn’t push the limits of the weight of your optics past a 65mm spotter.
This tripod is exactly what I needed! I purchased a really light tripod to use this spring bear hunting and then worried it wouldn’t meet my needs. I started researching and Cody suggested this one and I couldn’t be happier. It is reasonably lightweight for backpacking, sturdy and it was awesome a few weeks ago and also used it out in Yellowstone being a total tourist. I recommend it!
I did a lot of reading and research before biting the bullet in this tripod. GoHunt got it to me in 3 days and I have been enjoying it ever since. I paired it with a new VA5 fluid head. This is the perfect combo for my style of hunting. The tripod is light and extremely easy to set up and take down. I used it for 3 days last weekend for my Spring bear and absolutely loved it. Game changer.
Lightweight but stable and seemingly durable. Got it for a packable sit behind tripod, but it’s holding its own as a stand behind. Still waiting to try to shoot behind it, but it seems to fit the bill. When fully extended wind will make it shake a bit but a decent heavy load from the drop hook solves the problem. Twist locks are great. Quick deploy/retrieve. Very impressed. Not sure what could be improved for its size and weight. Perfect for a 65-85mm packable spotter but not much more. Highly recommended.
Haven't found the head I want yet, so haven't really used the tripod in the field. Like that it seems very stable, while still being very light weight. I also think the height will be perfect, as I often glass standing while on fairly steep slopes hunting Coues.
