Why we like this product

  • Built for the hardcore backcountry ounce counting hunter that wants a light bomb-proof shelter
  • Zipper free to lessen leaks, weight, and wear points
  • Pitches tight to better resist heavy winds and bad weather helping you stay in the field longer
  • Available with or without a stove jack to make it a true 4 season shelter
  • Two doors and two vestibules for the ultimate airflow and gear stowage
  • Silex Nest (sold separately) for when you want to keep the bugs out in the early season
  • Fits one with gear or two without

Seek Outside's Silex a large single-person trekking pole tent that can be easily pitched with four primary stakes. It features two doors and two vestibules to give you a ton of room for one person and gear, even though two people can fit you won't be able to utilize the nest. The Silex performs well in high wind situations because it pitches tight due to subtle cuts hidden in the seams. If rough weather is expected it's recommended to utilize all stake loops instead of just the four corners. The Silex is a zipperless shelter so no need to worry about leaking, wearing out, or adding weight to your pack. The Silex is a perfect option for the hunter that's counting ounces to go farther and hunt harder.

For those looking to add a stove to your silex, we recommend a medium stove if you're looking to save weight, provide good heat, and have a cooking surface. If weight isn't as big of a concern, you want more cooking surface, or you already own a larger Seek Outside shelter like the Cimarron, we'd recommend a large stove.

***Single-wall, floor-less shelters tend to produce more condensation than traditional double-wall tents. Factors like humidity, ground moisture, and vegetation will impact the amount of condensation inside your tent. We recommend pitching your tent in an elevated position to increase airflow and bringing a small towel to wipe the inside of your tent periodically to reduce dripping.***

"Been pretty interested in getting an additional shelter for hunting when I go solo. I already have a four man teepee and when I found out I could get one from Gohunt that is already stove compatible AND receive points AND have it shipped within two weeks instead of two months…. you just can’t beat that. 😁👍Thanks Gohunt!"

    Looks good

"It looks good but asked for it to be seam seal and they just sent a tub which cost less than 12 anywhere and change way more to sent it for you to do so not too happy about that"

great hunting shelter for 1 guy

"It’s lightweight and packs small. Sets up easy. Plenty of room inside for my bed, my pack, my bow or rifle. I keep guy lines attached at the roof cones and one at either non-door ends of the tent. Fully staked out the thing is a capable shelter. It’s kept me protected in some nasty wind, rain, and snow storms. I recommend replacing the stakes. The ones that come are the exact same design as the MSR ground hog stakes. But whatever metal they used is weak and easily bends. Especially out here in the “rocky” mountains. Every stake that came with the shelter has bent or broken and have all been replaced by the much more durable groundhogs. The condensation issue can become a pain in the butt. My sleeping bag is wet to some degree most mornings. I started carrying a a microfiber towel to wipe down the inside before I get dressed. But with a single wall floor less shelter you can’t expect anything else. I’ve recently purchased a pack stove for late season hunts so I can dry boots and gear. Turns that little tent into a sweat lodge real quick. Helps with moisture as well. Even with the stove I have plenty of room for myself and all my gear. It’s well built and I expect it to serve me well for years to come. Highly recommend."

A Solo shelter to rule them all!

"This shelter is impressive. Its ultralight and minimalist but packs all the features you need in the backcountry. It's simple to break down and set up and for the most part, only requires 4 stakes to set. The generous vestibules offer plenty of room for your gear and the nest...get the nest, gives you that extra layer against bugs and other critters while offering great airflow and space for your sleep system. After 2 seasons of use, this is my go to solo shelter. Well done SO!"

"Shelter has been bombproof for me. I sealed it once receiving and setting it up. First trip had rain and 30+ mph winds, no issues at all. I’m also 6’4” and plenty of room compared to old 1 person tent. I will say that first few times setting up it took me quite awhile to get it taught and low to ground. Probably just me but had a heck of a time with zipperless doors staying down and tight but after done online research I got it dialed in. Stakes are also pretty worthless. I broke 2 first time setting up in my yard. I am now using b my old stakes that are far superior in quality."

    Silex shelter

"Great shelter, light weight, but tent stakes are cheap though."
