BreakdownThe Eight Person Lightweight Tipi is roomy, storm worthy and offers stand up & walk around space. A truly sustainable backcountry home, great for family camping, late season hunting, winter adventures, or a base camp. It is capable of sleeping up to eight with minimal gear, or four people with a stove. Great for early season archery hunts by itself or add a titanium packable stove to the already integrated stove jack and backpack hunt well into the winter months. For the 8 person tipi, you should use the SXL stove with at least a 9' stove pipe. This tipi ships with the aluminum center pole, canopy, 20 aluminum stakes, a storage sack, and one tube of Silnet.
I am very happy with my purchase of the Seek Outside 8 Man Tipi. I paired this with a Light Outdoors titanium stove during my recent Mule Deer hunt with four junior hunters. Last year‘s hunt they complained of the cold at night and it was a vivid memory going into this year‘s hunt. The tent and stove combination made for a very and enjoyable experience. They loved the large structure that allowed us all to be together with plenty of room for the five of us and a medium size duffel bag each inside the Tipi as well as a stove. Everyone slept warm and they were much easier to coax out of bed early in the morning to start our hunt. I also purchased the half floor from seek outside and believe this is a valuable addition to extend the comfort of the structure.
This tent in combination with the titanium sxl stove is awesome. Tons of room for gear and sleeping arrangements. Packed in with horses and mules 9 miles sure beats packing a 60 pound wall tent.
We’ll be taking this tent out on it’s maiden hunt in a few weeks’ time, so this is an initial review:
It’s darn lightweight for an 8-man tent, and sets taut and straight in about 15 min using the radius method. As a tip, we cut some cordage to the right length (7’10”) and put a loop on one end so we could set the stakes off a center pivot.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail is top-notch!
Overall very impressed with this tent. Much more room than I expected. Could easily fit 4 hunters with gear in the tent or 5 hunters with minimal gear.
The stakes are poor quality. I would recommend getting after market stakes. We broke and bent the majority of the stakes that were sent with the tent.
Also, tent needs to be set up with some type of natural wind break. We had no wind break in our first location and the tent acted as a parachute.
I would give this shelter a 4.5 star rating.
