BreakdownThe Eight Person Lightweight Tipi is roomy, storm worthy and offers stand up & walk around space. A truly sustainable backcountry home, great for family camping, late season hunting, winter adventures, or a base camp. It is capable of sleeping up to eight with minimal gear, or four people with a stove. Great for early season archery hunts by itself or add a titanium packable stove to the already integrated stove jack and backpack hunt well into the winter months. For the 8 person tipi, you should use the SXL stove with at least a 9' stove pipe. This tipi ships with the aluminum center pole, canopy, 20 aluminum stakes, a storage sack, and one tube of Silnet.
We’ll be taking this tent out on it’s maiden hunt in a few weeks’ time, so this is an initial review:
It’s darn lightweight for an 8-man tent, and sets taut and straight in about 15 min using the radius method. As a tip, we cut some cordage to the right length (7’10”) and put a loop on one end so we could set the stakes off a center pivot.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail is top-notch!
Overall very impressed with this tent. Much more room than I expected. Could easily fit 4 hunters with gear in the tent or 5 hunters with minimal gear.
The stakes are poor quality. I would recommend getting after market stakes. We broke and bent the majority of the stakes that were sent with the tent.
Also, tent needs to be set up with some type of natural wind break. We had no wind break in our first location and the tent acted as a parachute.
I would give this shelter a 4.5 star rating.
