Breakdown
Filtering up to 1.75 liters a minute without any pumping, the high-capacity GravityWorks 4.0L water filter is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get filtered water in the backcountry. Ideal for basecamps, the system has an 8-liter total capacity, easily supplying filtered water for drinking, washing up, cooking, and cleaning. While it has a big capacity, it is also very compact. When properly stowed it is smaller than most 1L bottles.

I own 3 of these. They work awesome, and last a long time. Make sure to back-flush the system frequently (I do it about every other bag of dirty water) and it will treat you right for many years. Brilliant design and extremely functional.
Compact size & may come in handy to filter water for human consumption.
Platypus GravityWorks 4L Water Filter System is great for filtering water, why you cut wood, adjust your gear or shelter.
But after a few uses (in a fresh spring) the filter time nearly doubled.
I tried clearing the tubes and filter by blowing them out, but it did not help.
On my recent 2-week backcountry trip, I could filter 10 liters of water through my Katadyn Vario Water Filter faster than the Platypus GravityWorks filtered 4L.
I recently got back from a 9 day elk hunt and we used this filter system on a regular basis. It's very simple and efficient. We were blown away by how fast it can filter water!
