"First off, I am not a picky eater. I eat oysters on the half shell, cod livers straight from the can, kefir, and all kinds of wild game including Jackrabbit. I'm also the go-to human garbage disposal in my family. With regard to the flavor of this packet of glop, however, I believe I could achieve a similar texture and flavor if I ground up a bunch of toast into crumbs, threw in some garlic and vinegar, and mixed it up with some boiling water. There are carrots in this mixture that taste as if they were soaked in highly-concentrated vinegar and garlic before being freeze dried. My very frugal wife who hates to waste anything just came into my office as I wrote this and said, "Mike, really, don't eat that. It smells so bad it makes me want to gag." And no, it wasn't past its due date -- see photo of package to verify. If I were on a camping trip, hike, or hunt and brought this stuff along as something I hoped would be both filling and tasty, I'd be royally ticked. Thank goodness I bought only one to test before buying more."
