** Please note the Guide Light MT Frame has different sizing than previous Mystery Ranch packs. Many people who used to be a large will now fit a medium pack. Please check the sizing tab to ensure you order the correct size.
BreakdownWe all know those hunters who desire a streamlined packable to organize everything for a big day out or a quick overnight hunt. The redesigned Pintler provides numerous internal pockets for easy organization all in a low-profile package, as well as having the secret weapon, the Overload Shelf, all on the new Guide Light MT Frame with a five-piece waist belt, so get comfortable for the long pack out!
*If you are in-between sizes we recommend that you size down. This will ensure that you have the ability to tighten the waist belt under a heavy load and or after having spent multiple days in the backcountry and having lost a few pounds.

First off, I LOVE Mystery Ranch bags. I have a 2-Day Assault, 3-Day Assault, and Beartooth 80. I bought a Pintler to fill the niche between the 3DAP and BT80, for long day hike/hunts with gear--including a tree platform between the bag and frame for saddle hunting. I bought the Pintler because it combines the Guide Light frame and 3-Zip design, the two features for which I keep coming back to Mystery Ranch.
However, the Pintler misses its niche in a few key ways. First, the lid is blocked from easily opening by the top of the frame when there's anything filling the lid pockets, making less than full use of the genius 3-zip design. It would be much better if either the frame was smaller to accommodate the shorter pack, or the depth of the pack was increased to fit the frame. Either a deeper pack or a shorter frame would be ideal.
Second, I miss some of the really nice pocket features of the 3-Day Assault. These are: (1) the internal organization of the top lid pocket (which fit my flashlight and extra battery perfectly for finding in the dark); (2) the external side stow pockets; (3) and the laptop sleeve. I miss the external stow pockets, where I used to stash my gloves and hat during long, dawn-to-dusk days afield, most of all.
In sum, this is a decent pack that seems to slip between the cracks of the 3-Day Assault and Beartooth 80 packs. (The Terraframe 50 also has the Guide Light frame and 3-Zip design, but practically no internal organization.) I would happily slap down my money and 5 full stars for a pack that fills the niche perfectly.
This backpack can cope with all kinds of environments. In addition to hunting, it is also suitable for mountaineering. It can also be used for outdoor camping. Because it can be expanded to increase the capacity and load more items, it is really good value for money.
Pack is awesome!!!!! Love everything about it! This pack is recommended for a two day hunt or wknd hunter. The price made me a little nervous but I’m happy with everything about the pack.
Quality is there! Attention to detail is there….one you have this baby in your hands your going to see what I’m talking about
Not as comfortable as I was hoping.
The Pintler is the perfect size for going in quick and light and packing out heavy. Very well thought out pack. All of the organizational features make this pack stand out. Did a great job packing out a 5 point bull in thick timber with a lot of blow down this year.
