Breakdown
The 2020 model of the Marshall possesses the same great features as its predecessor but is now on the new Guide Light MT Frame and has the same SJ buckles as the Beartooth. It also comes with the new Daypack Lid and one Quick Attach Zoid Bag. The Daypack Lid functions as a normal lid, but once it is detached it can be converted into a 700 cubic inch approach backpack, perfect for use during a stalk. The Quick-Attach Zoid Bag is a 245 cubic inch storage bag that is perfect for kill kits, first aid kits, or other similar essentials. Then the new 2020 Marshall has special attachment loops that the Quick Attach Zoid Bag attaches to, guaranteeing you can find and access that gear quickly.

The Marshall Backpack is expansive, accessible and full of surprises just like its namesake, The Bob Marshall Wilderness. Sitting on the sturdy, Guide Light MT Frame™, you can load it from the top via the shroud access, get to all your gear from the side through the full-length side zip and store a sleeping bag in the bottom Speedzip™. There are also two external long pockets for a spotting scope and other essentials that need to be readily accessible. After a long stalk and a clean shot, the Overload Shelf™ allows you to push the weight limits of what's humanly possible on a pack out. The adjustable yoke for custom torso fit allows you to fine-tune for fit and function. Week-long hunts feel like second nature when you carry the Marshall.

Love this pack.

Recently purchased the marshall backpack and used it during a 8 day elk hunt. The pack holds more then I could actually carry. I had a hard time using the meat shelf but I have that figured out now. There are a lot of straps on this tank that really secure the load but can make it challenging to get them all in the correct place. My only recommendation would be to sew in the velcro pieces that hold the rolled up straps together. I lost a few of them. Packing out elk quarters was a little hard at first until I readjusted the frame length for a better carry. Mystery ranch could use some animated graphics to explain all the functions and straps a little better. Gohunt was terrific to work with.

Great bag

Fantastic bag, too bad they’re made in the Philippines now. For the price you’d think they could get them done in Montana

There’s a new Marshall in Town

I have two Marshall packs, bought this one to try out the new guide light frame. Much easier to access the meat shelf than prior versions. Jury is still out on the side pockets. I use these pockets for carrying a larger tripod. The top 2/3 of the pocket is a stretchy material, which doesn’t seem as durable as prior models. Bottom 1/3 of the pocket is still the durable material. I like the new sizing. I’m 6 4 and my 5 7 buddies can use this. Adjusting takes 30 seconds. Inner zoid bag adds some nice organization. Wish the Pack came with the forager pockets already. Dual side zippers are a nice feature. I bought a metcalf and compared packs, Marshall is the clear winner in my mind. Have friends that broke their Kuiu packs while carrying heavy load. My mystery ranch can pack a whole mule deer (Bone-in) easily with rifle and few items for hunting. No signs of wear after using my first metcalf for 3 years, average of 4 hunts a year.
The little bit of extra weight clearly adds durability. Will keep buying mystery ranch, hope they continue to keep the quality standards I’ve come to expect.
