"I don’t have much positive to say about this sling when it comes to using it in conjunction with my Mystery Ranch Metcalf backpack. It did ok when on flat ground or mild terrain, but as soon as I had to start making some serious climbs in the mountains, the sling would manage to still come off the shoulder and flip sideways. I grew tired of this and ended up slinging it with the rifle under my armpit. I kept the sling hooked to the shoulder connector. The butt holder was of no use in this configuration but it was better this way for climbing up ridgelines etc."

"Holds the rifle better than nothing, but what it could really use is a point of attachment high on the shoulder strap. A simple hook, like a belt hook for a traditional bow turned sideways and attached to the shoulder webbing to catch the sling from slipping off the shoulder, would work wonders."
"I really like the Mystery Ranch hands free rifle sling. It only fell off my shoulder once but I was in some steep terrain and the rifle was on the downhill side of me. I really like the design of the stock dock, it effectively kept the butt of the stock from moving around."
