BreakdownThe new BEARTOOTH 80 pack is built for the hunter who values organization and varied access to the essentials. Built on Mystery Ranch's new Guide Light MT Frame™, this pack offers major load-hauling capability and features a quick-attach frame capture for easier Overload™ feature usage. The unique 270° “duffel-style” zipper opening offers easy access no matter how it’s packed – from the top, side, or bottom. Multiple pockets both outside and on the main opening’s inside flap keep all the essentials close at hand.
*If you are in-between sizes we recommend that you size down. This will ensure that you have the ability to tighten the waist belt under a heavy load and or after having spent multiple days in the backcountry and having lost a few pounds.

This my first pack, so can’t compare to other brands. Before purchasing the beertooth I did a lot of research, had my choices narrowed down to three different brands. I am extremely happy with mystery ranch beertooth. I have been taking it out for hikes every weekend loading it with 65 lbs. going 6 to 10 miles per hike. The pack is very comfortable with this weight, feel it would be comfortable even with heavier weights however I am not conditioned enough yet. For functionality I don’t know what more someone would want. Great pack.
Upgraded to the new pack for 2021 big game hunts in western states and Alaska.
Followed Rand Newberg’s recommendation based on the need for more room on extended hunts to store more clothing layers and food/gear, etc.
I haven’t used it yet, but I’ll know more about the pack in December after multiple hunts! So far the pack holds my gear with extra room to hopefully accommodate successful hunts.
After Purchasing and returning several different packs from different brands I decided to go all out and purchase the Beartooth because I've heard nothing but good stuff about Mystery Ranch. I was struggling to pick between this and their Metcalf but after seeing how well mine compresses and the fit/weight distribution, I think I made the right choice.
85mm obj. Scope fits in the outer pocket with ease. Looking forward to Hunting and Camping with this on my back.
I'm 6'2 220lbs and the Large frame fit me perfectly.
Mystery Ranch Beartooth 80 Backpack
I used to run the Metcalf pack on all of my hunts for the past few years and absolutely love it. However, it was always difficult to fit everything for a late season backpacking hunt into the Metcalf without strapping gear to the outside of the pack, plus then having to pack out an animal if I was lucky enough. I decided to buy the Beartooth pack this year and do not regret it at all. The pack lives up to the great durability, comfort, and usability of the Metcalf, plus tons of extra volume. I still plan to use my Metcalf on early season or day hunts, but as soon as the late season hunts roll around or extended backpacking trips, I will be running the Beartooth for sure. Overall great pack, with nothing bad to say about it.
