BreakdownThe Befree Live Fluid Head is the smallest and most lightweight video head in the Manfrotto range. It's highly compact and easy to set up and use. The Befree Head comes with a Manfrotto 501PL Sliding Quick Release Plate. A knob on the side and another on the front allow you to control pan and tilt drag separately. Another knob on top releases the camera plate. The Befree Head weighs less than a pound and offers a complete 360° pan movement. It has a 40 mm flat base with a 3/8 inch - 16 mounting thread compatible with many tripods.
Done a couple tests with my spotter & 15X and seems to work as advertised, that sliding top plate works well to balance the weight. I wish that little press-fit locating pin was spring loaded (if you don’t need it) so you couldn’t lose it if you have to take it out; if you drop that little pin in the bush it’s gone forever. I think I’ll just keep it dedicated for my spotter and use a smaller lighter fluid head for my 15’s.
Flawlessly pans from one buck to the next with my 15x56s. I don't record any video but it is easy to scan a hillside.
Perfect for small cameras in the treestand and smaller scopes out west
