BreakdownWeighing in at only 2 oz, and fitting in the palm of your hand the Sawyer Mini is a no-brainer for the backcountry hunter. Connect it inline from your bladder to your drinking hose or carry a separate "dirty" water bladder to quickly fill up on the move to filter later, the possibilities are endless. With the ability to clean and reuse your Sawyer Mini up to 100,000 gallons, and also removing 99.9999% of all Bacteria, Protozoa, E. Coli, Giardia, Vibrio cholerea, Salmonella Typhi, Leptospirosis, and microplastics, this could be the last water filter you ever have to buy. This filter comes with a 16 oz pouch, drinking straw, and a cleaning plunger.
Sawyer Mini Water Filter
It takes to long to fill a 3 liter bladder and the bags are extremely flimsy
Used with the right hydration bladder (I use CNOC and push or drain to camelbak) you can filter water from the smallest dirtiest stream and have enough clean clear water in just a minute or two, once you learn to use it correctly you can’t beat its simplicity.
This little filter is light, packable, and filters water. The trade off you make for the size and weight is volume and time. Filling your pouch with dirty water can be difficult depending on the water sources available and often times in a shallow stream you may only be able to get 10oz in the bag to filter at a time. The amount of time it takes to filter the full 16oz of water is pretty long, never timed it but it was noticeable to the point where I traded it out for my reliable pump when I got back to the truck.
