Breakdown
The Rip Ruck 32, the largest in the series, is a great option for those who need a backpack to take on hikes with the family but is still functional as an everyday bag. The tuckable hip belt makes this one of the most versatile everyday packs. It has two main compartments: a zip access to a separate laptop and document sleeve and a Rip-Zip compartment that has a sleeve, zippered mesh pocket and plenty of space for all your other must-haves. Other features include side stretch-woven pockets, PALS webbing and daisy chain for attaching accessories, and plenty of exterior pockets for quick access and organization.

Mystery Ranch and goHunt deliver again! I had a competitor pack, and not very long before the chest strap pulled of the wimpy cable on the right side then one of the waist belt tensioner buckles simply snapped...not happy. Had previously bought a MR Marshall and was super pleased so I came back for a Rip Ruck 32 over the Labor Day event. Super pleased with both the pack and goHunt...y'all know the true meaning of Customer service! And Mystery Ranch, their construction is by far the best of any pack I've ever owned...just about bomb-proof!
Overall I love the bag, but a few small tweaks would make this perfect.
Pros - comfort from adjustable torso, compartments, look, feel, PALS, and all the small stuff in between.
Cons - no water bladder !? How is there no dedicated outflow hole in the canvas to run a hose!? I have to either leave the zipper open around it, or may cut a hole in the bag to create a dedicated hose outlet.. huge oversight.
The side pockets are useless for retaining water bottles. They slip right out if you aren’t standing straight up. If you’re going to have side pockets that stretch to accommodate different size bottles, you must have a way to cinch them tight. Another gaping flaw in an otherwise amazing back.
I am disappointed in these two areas, but the comfort and ability to work around these flaws with some DIY fixes is doable.
Needed a little bigger back pack for work and wildland fire deployments. This pack is perfect for me. Very easy to get stuff out of it quickly. Very comfortable and high quality, just like all Mystery Ranch stuff. Being able to completely fold the hip belt away is awesome. Water bolt pockets work great. Nothing more to say. It’s a great pack.
Amazing pack. I have the Metcalf I use on extended backcountry. This is a great weekend bag.
Use it for wetland delineations: hauling Geo GPSs, data sheets, reference materials, water, etc. Great pack with lots of organized storage, really smart, efficient magnetic access mechanisms, and is built tough to last with stout zippers.
