The Allak 2 is one of the burliest freestanding tents around. You do not need stakes to set this tent up, but it still can handle all 4 seasons. Its robust build does add some weight, but it is still light enough to put in your pack and carry in. This tent can withstand extreme conditions, and since it is freestanding, you don't have to worry about rocky or sandy terrain making it impossible to set up.

This tent is part of Hilleberg's Red Label Series. Red Label tents are designed to maximize lightweight while still retaining appropriate strength, ease of use, and comfort in all conditions. The Allak 2 fulfills those parameters perfectly.

The best tent

I have owned what I thought were a lot of high-end tents before (HMG Ultamid 2, MLD Duomid XL, Mountain Harware AC2 to name a few) and the Allack 2 is simply the best.

Sure the weight doesn’t compare to some of the tents I have owned and they are very expensive but, the material used, the thoughtful construction, the ease of setup and its ability to be a true free-standing tent are what make this tent so awesome as well what I would consider to be the most durable tent I have ever owned.

So far I have only had this tent out twice and both times in the snow (once in 15-ish mph) winds and the Allack handled it incredibly well. No need to worry about bringing extra guy lines or waking up to re-tension guy lines or drafts sneaking in along the base of the tent or changes in wind direction or relying on a trekking pole support or climbing over someone to get out.

I’m 5’10” and fit perfectly in the tent with plenty of room for gear as well as to move around. As far as using the tent with two people, use two 20” pads or a 20” and “25.

I wish that I knew about Hilleberg 10-15 years ago.
