BreakdownThe Spot Bandit can greatly improve your glassing experience by blocking ambient light, glare, and wind. In doing this the clarity and detail of the image you see is improved. This also reduces eye strain. With the Spot Bandit, you can now glass longer, more effectively, and with more comfort. Alpine Innovations designed this product so that it would fit on almost any spotting scope. Check out the Bino Bandit for these same great features but for your binoculars.
Scooped this up for the 2020 season and found it useful enough to bring it on the '21 hunts. Glassing into a low sun angle sucks, and without a good way to seal the light from leaking in, you typically call it quits after about 5 minutes. Either the glare, the headache, or the low light transmission from the shawdowed areas just make you say 'eff it'. This helps cut down on all of those issues. The material is soft enough to be 'comfortable' (as in you don't notice it), yet firm enough to seal well against your face and keep light from leaking in.
The only downside I have noted is that it attaches with an elastic band that does slip under the eyepiece and can make it difficult to adjust for glasses or sunglasses. For many it's a non-issue, but as a glasses wearer, it's the one thing that annoys me, as this thing is always on my scope.
Again: great piece of equipment that's worth it's weight in gold for those early morning, mid-afternoon, and late evening glassing sessions.
Haven't had a chance to use it yet. But I have the bino bandit and have used it for a couple of years. it works great! So I am sure the scope bandit will shade my scope eye the same way. Makes a big difference when glassing on sunny days.
This simple little product makes a World of Difference. Never would have thought it was so Helpful, But after Hours on the Glass this Product is well Worth the Money. Really helps block out the extra light and lets you focus better. ( I Also have this on with my phoneskope and it still works great )
Goes on easy enough. Haven’t had a chance to really try it out.
Not only stops glare but seems to provide a clearer picture in the scope. I like it a lot
