DescriptionThe Cimarron is the classic pyramid shelter reimagined and redefined. It's large enough for up to four people during an early-season hunt or two during a late-season hunt with an added stove. Carefully built from top quality, resilient 30 Denier Cordura Nylon, the Cimarron is great in the wind, rain, or snow. Dual entrances with storm flaps make is a perfect fit for a small group. Built-in sod skirt keeps any unwanted debris or snow out. It pitches fast and easy and will be a reliable shelter for nearly any hunt regardless of the season or conditions. The Cimarron comes with a stove jack and can be pitched with linked trekking poles or Seek Outside carbon fiber center pole.
This is a solid tent, I used it the first time this weekend, the weather was torrential downpour at times, definitely seam seal it because I did not and it did leak along the seams.
I did have issues setting up the footprint at first getting it square, a little practice will solve this though.
The only reason I give this a 4 star is the fact that the loops for the stakes are a bit large and the wind kept blowing the tent over. I ended up tying para-cord to the loops and making smaller holes for the stakes to barely fit through for a tight fit around the stake. I broke 4 of the stakes that come with it and bent 3. I will be purchasing better stakes now. After driving the stakes in they are nearly impossible to pull out by hand.
I Pitched with a 2-1/2" round tree trunk about 6' long, and used the cut off branches to hang gear, so no real need for the tent poles.
Other than that the tent is very light, and seems durable enough for my abuse, as I am hard on my gear anyway.
I would recommend it with some slight modifications.
